We present a method that enables real-time session-orientedprotocols, such as SIP, H.323, Megaco/H.248 and MGCP, to traversethrough enterprise and residential firewalls and NATs. The methodrequires no protocol awareness in the firewall or NAT device and itis transparent to the endpoint. The method benefits from beingprotocol agnostic - one method may be used for all protocols.Profiles for SIP are presented here as examples.This is a revision to an earlier draft. The main change in thisdraft is to move the intelligent part of the solution into theprivate network so that it is protected by the firewall. The detailsof the various signalling flows have been modified to accommodatethis change.
