SMTP Service Extension for Secure SMTP over Transport Layer Security

This document describes an extension to the SMTP (Simple MailTransfer Protocol) service that allows an SMTP server and client touse TLS (Transport Layer Security) to provide private, authenticatedcommunication over the Internet. This gives SMTP agents the abilityto protect some or all of their communications from eavesdroppers andattackers.
