Each sensorless method has features and problems. To clarify which kind of model-based sensorless control method is more suitable for synchronous reluctance motors (SynRM), comparative studies among Active flux-based sliding-mode observer (SMO) and PLL base sliding-mode observer is carried out in this paper. The performance of these two methods has been investigated under different disturbances such as stator resistance variation, current dc-offset and current sensor gain variation, etc. Simulation results are presented to compare the performance of these two methods under the same conditions and disturbances. Finally, a comparison between the advantages and weaknesses of these two methods is presented.
