In 5G smartphones, the millimeter-wave (26GHz) phased array antenna based on high-precision printed circuit board (PCB) process should be within a limited thickness for example 1mm (0.09λ0). The traditional magneto-electric dipole antenna cannot be used in this phased array due to its high profile. To solve this problem, the phased array consists of 2 × 4 magnetoelectric dipole elements is presented, which is realized by only using double-layer substrate with low profile of 0.08λ0 (@26 GHz). The phased array antenna also meets some basic requirements, including realized gain more than 13 dBi, scan angle between ?40 to 40 degree, and the band from 24.75 to 27.5 GHz.
