Study case of young people employability skills enhancement at the Universitat Politècnica de València

Unemployment among youth is a shared European challenge. Almost 14 million young people in Europe are not in employment, education or training. To tackle that challenge, the European Economic Area Grants has created a fund for youth employment. In 2018 seven organisms representing six European countries (Spain, Greece, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Latvia and Italy) created a consortium and presented a project to the call youth employment of the EEA grants: “European digital bootcamps” (EDIBO). The main aim of EDIBO’s project is to enhance employability skills of young people aged from 18 years old up to 30 years old, focusing on women and immigrants and youth proceeding from rural areas. The project started on October 1st of 2018 and will finish on September 30th of 2021. In this article it is analyzed in detail the experience of one of the EDIBO Project’s partner: the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). The UPV case study comprise: i) the description of the two offered courses, ii) how were enrolled the students and iii) the most important: the results obtained related with employability taken from the three bootcamp editions already finished.
