Airborne noise control aboard ships presents a wide variety of challenges. Acoustic reqoirementsare diverse, extending from quiet ship control spaces to tmmatmed machinery rwms. These requirementsare applied from small boats to nuclear powered aircd carriers. As each design has its individualreqoirements, each solution will utilize a mix of quiet machinery, noise path isolation, and spacearrangements. However, due to the pervasive natore of noise. propagation, attention to detail isimperative. The attention to detail includes all phases of design and construction/installation.Shipboard noise control requires an integrated approach to meet both noise. and financial budgets. Thepoint of this paper is to stress the continuous need for attention to acoustic details.
