Mechanical and thennal properties of steel materials composing steel plate reinforced concrete containment vessel (SCCV) were investigated. High-strength steel plate and steel rod (before machining to stud connector) were prepared for the test specimens. Tensile and thermal elongation tests were conducted with elevated temperature up to 300°C. Tensile test results indicated that yield point stress, tensile strength and modulus of elasticity at high temperature can be conservatively estimated by JSME standard (Japanese design code for nuclear power generation facilities). Machining process and initial imperfect stress condition were also considered in the tensile test, but there were small effect on mechanical properties. Thermal and mechanical properties of stud connector were not influenced by high temperature.
