Microcellular injection moulding obtains many possibilities to improve the economical and quality aspects of the injection moulding process. As well lower cycle times, lower clamp forces, safe in raw materials as also improved melt flow behaviour, dimension stability, reduced shrinkage and warpage gives the polymer industry a lot of possibilities which are used insufficient today. Also mechanical properties can be positive influenced by microcellular foaming. This study will show different possibilities to improve the injection moulding process, surface quality and mechanical properties. The connection between processing parameter and the morphology as well as the mechanical properties were analysed. Different processing techniques like precision mould opening and gas counter pressure will be illustrated and in combination with other processing parameters analysed with regard to the applicability for the different requirements of foamed product.
