Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) has been considered an enabling technology for fast and reliable identification of massive objects. However simultaneous identification of multiple objects attached with electronic tag is challenging since responses from tags without coordination may collide, thereby resulting in a waste of radio resources. In this work we analyze the performance of anti-collision protocol designed for Electronic Product Code (EPC) Class-1 Generation-2 RFID systems and propose an operation algorithm for the anti-collision scheme. By using the information on collision statistics in the previous frame, our algorithm estimates the number of contending tags and allocates accordingly an appropriate number of slots in the next frame. Probabilistic analytic models are developed to calculate the time required to read a complete set of tags. Simulations are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed operation algorithm and to verify the adequacy of the analysis.
