This presentation will cover silo configuration descriptions and a discussion of what to observe in silo inspections. The importance of periodic silo inspections and preventative maintenance repairs early on to catch issues before they become expensive problems will be emphasized. Material flow pattern descriptions will be covered including materials flow depending on the construction, cone angles, contents and a variety of other factors. A brief visual example of main flow patterns: mass flow, funnel flow, expanded flow and fluidized flow will be reviewed. Types and methods of silo repairs, case histories of past notable silo inspections and repairs will be covered.
