A formalism is proposed for the description of monomolecular chemical reactions in a condensed system with a dispersion of reactivity. It is based on the concept of conditional concentration and the distribution function of the volume over ensembles of kinetically equivalent particles. The mathematical model has the form of an infinite differential equations system, adequately describing all types of such problems and features of step kinetics. Examples are given of comparing the exact solution of polychromatic kinetics equations with traditionally used in the literature approximation using the ensemble section method. The application of the model for describing the process of gassing during thermal decomposition of solid fuel is considered. For this purpose, the corresponding inverse problem of recovering the distribution function is posed and solved.
