The present article studies technologies of profiled rolling of slabs in a breakdown of a plate mill. It states tasks that must be solved for introduction of the technology on the mill 2800 JSC 'Uralskaya Stal'. It shows the functional chart of the developed automated control system for profiled rolling. The thickness control principle is realised in the system in the function of length of the rolled slab part. The design of the automated control system for screwdown mechanisms position with combined control is justified. It presents the system structure with positive feedback by the first derivative from the reference-input signal. Transition processes of a hydraulic screwdown mechanism in a closed system of position control are studied. Recommendations on controller adjustment are given. Correlations for calculating assignment for rolling thickness in the length function of a rolled slab part are shown. It is recommended to organise research with a help of mathematical model and experimental studies on a laboratory unit.
