This paper demonstrates how a cognitive radar exploiting echoic flow can perform target interception. The “taudot” parameter and the coupling of different echoic flow fields define interception performance. The manner in which tau-dot allows a deterministic implementation of the perception-action cycle is presented. Several simulated examples are provided demonstrating different approaches that may be take to intercept a stationary target. An analysis is provided to show that at least 24 dB of SNR is required for target interception to be reliable when using echoic flow. However, pulse integration is shown to improve this situation. Lastly a simulated example is provided that demonstrate how an accelerating target can also be intercepted without changing the underlying processing.
