International Electronical Committee (IEC) provides testing methods for verifying electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) according to the installation environment of the equipment. Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) also provides specific performance criteria for EMC testing of equipment using communications through the IEEE 1613 standard. Newly developed smart grid devices will operate in the form of digital substations using IEC 61850-based mechanisms through the connection of communication networks, not with conventional copper wire-connected substations. It is important to provide a level of interoperability that allows functionality to operate beyond simple information exchange. It is also important to evaluate the device by applying criteria such as communication speed or bit error ratio (BER) that can be applied to general communication devices. However, it will be necessary to evaluate the reliability of the device using the requirements of semantically modelled data requirements through the communication network. In this paper, we propose an acceptance criterion for evaluating EMC performance of smart grid devices connected to communication interface through generic object oriented substation event (GOOSE) packet, which is a data exchange service based on IEC 61850. In particular, we propose a data model of logical node (LN) in IED to check the status or operation when the device is affected by EM disturbance.
