In this paper, we present a relay network based on the introduction of the cooperative communication technique in ultra wideband (UWB) systems. This combination named as Cooperative UWB (C-UWB) can boost the performance of UWB systems and help in increasing the network coverage without necessitating increased transmission. Therefore, the use of the Rake diversity combining is very effective to exploit the UWB channel diversity. Then, to reach the benefit of cooperation, and to overcome the multiple access interference (MAI) effect, we propose to use antenna selection criterion at the relay node equipped with multiple antennas. Our results demonstrate the diversity gains and BER performance improvement comparing to two scenarios; single antenna relay and multiple antennas relay where the antenna selection strategy achieved the full diversity (FD) gain.
