Determination of the Contribution of the Spectral Image Component on the Amplitude Estimator Provided by the Three-Point Interpolated DFT Algorithm

In this paper the influence of the spectral image component on the amplitude estimator provided by the three-point Interpolated Discrete Fourier Transform (IpDFT) algorithm is analyzed in the case of a pure sine-wave. The expression for the amplitude relative estimation error due to the above contribution is derived when the sine-wave is weighted by a Maximum Sidelobe Decay (MSD) window. Furthermore, the accuracy of this expression is verified and compared by means of computer simulations with that derived when the two-point IpDFT amplitude estimator is used.
