The paper presents the simulation SNR performances of a class of single-carrier coded modulations that employ the Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) error-correcting codes. The proposed modulations make use of additional bandwidth to transmit the control of the error-correcting code employed. The coding gains provided by these modulations, versus the non-coded transmissions that provide the same payload, are studied for LDPC codes with coding rates R = 0.85, 0.75, 0.5 and 0.33. The coding gains provided are close to the ones provided by coded modulations with extended bandwidth employing turbo codes, but require a simpler implementation. The coding gains range between 4.5 and 9 dB, depending on the code rate and parameters. A fast encoding method of the LDPC codes is presented as well.
