A PIT Replacement Policy Based on Minimum Contribution in NDN-IoT

Facing the requirement of multi-source data retrieval in Internet of Things (IoT), Named Data Networking based IoT (NDN-IoT) has good potential than IP architecture due to its named routing mechanism. But current “Single-Interest to Single-Data” (SISD) transmission mode of NDN is limiting the efficiency o f data retrieval. To design “Single-Interest to Multi- Data” (SIMD) mode for NDN-IoT, we introduce a concept of retrieval contribution and then propose a novel PIT replacement policy based on minimum contribution (PRP-MC). In PRP-MC, the PIT entry does not be removed after being satisfied. When a new interest packet arrives, the retrieval contribution of all PIT entry will be calculated according to their historical satisfied information, and then the PIT entry with minimum contribution will be replaced. The simulation results show that, compared with SISD, Fixed PEL (PIT Entry Lifetime) and LRU (Least Recently Used) policies, PRP-MC achieves obvious advantages in data retrieval efficiency.
