This paper summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of the widely used current system and the new traveling wave protection, at the same time proposed problems in the raveling wave protection and proposes faulty analysis method for these problem: starting from the frequency domain transmission system, depth analysis of the transient component propagation of the DC transmission line that mainly including the characteristics of frequency-dependent parameters of the DC line and the border composition by filter system. Thence the paper proposes effective band that caused by failure difference which presence between outside and inside the line. At the end, we hope that the analytical methods could provide a reference value for DC circuit transient protection.
