IN-DEPTH ANALYSIS OF A TRADITIONAL CULTURAL CLUSTER THROUGH GROUNDED THEORY: THE CASE OF THE JEVGDEZHEN (CHINA) PORCELAIN CLUSTER

摘要

This research project, examining the Jingdezhen porcelain cluster, is a greenfield exploration, therefore lacking hypotheses, but instead serving to open this field, to explore and understand it and eventually generate deeper research. Quantitative methods are therefore not optimal, as they will not help in gaining a better understanding of this social phenomenon; multiple qualitative methods were chosen instead (including historiography, ethnography, and Grounded Theory). This report introduces the wide range of significant findings from this phase of the research, while minimizing literature review and methodology. Future efforts are intended to include action research, focus groups, and additional approaches.
