Sufentanil-2-Hydroxypropyl-β-Cyclodextrin Inclusion Complex For Pain Treatment: Characterization, Toxicity and Pharmacological Evaluation

This study aimed to characterize and to investigate the hemolytic effects, the miotoxicity and the analgesic properties of the sufentanil:2-hydroxypropyl-β- cyclodextrin inclusion complex (SUF:HP-β-CD). Physico-chemical characterization indicated the formation of a stable complex. In vitro and in vivo assays showed that the SUF:HP-β-CD presented muscle compatibility, less hemolytic effects and increased the duration of analgesia, being an effective novel formulation to enhance the pharmacological effects of sufentanil.
