A macroscopic model derived from the state-to-state kinetics has been proposed to describe N2 kinetics in recombination regime. In this conditions, three body recombination process determines the population of the vibrational distribution tails. The model considers, together with a multitemperature kinetic, one more equation for the population of the last vibrational level, considering terms derived directly from the state-to-state kinetics. The dissociation rate has been related to such level. The model has been applied to homogeneous kinetics. The agreement between state-to-state and the proposed macroscopic kinetics is satisfactory.
