Slow pyrolysis of pine wood was carried out in a fixed-bed reactor, aiming t°Characterize the gaseous products. The effects of temperature, calcium hydroxide catalyst and its adding methods on the distribution and yields of gaseous products had been investigated. Both temperature and catalyst played great roles on the product yields and gas compositions. At low temperature, CO and CO2 had mainly been evolved out whereas high temperature was favorable for the enhancement of CO, CH4 and H2. Whether Ca(OH)2 impregnated or dry-mixed with wood, the additive facilitated the yield of gases, especially H2 at the expense of liquid fraction reduction. No shift to a lower temperature was observed by the additive on the wood degradation. Pyrolysis wood impregnated with Ca(OH)2 had stronger catalytic effect than the dry-mixed one.
