A novel inclined gravity cell settler for selective retention of viable cells in continuous suspension bioreactor was developed. This downward-flow settler is comprised of an irregular ellipse channel with cell and main stream co-current moves in it, which resulting in minimal disturbance and minimizes the cell adhesion compare to traditional settler. Under the optimized settler operation condition, the average viable and nonviable cell retention rate is high at 97.41 (percent) and 89.05(percent).The optimized settler was applied in the hybridoma cell (HB58) perfusion culture process with results demonstrated that it could be used in a long-term perfusion culture process with ignore cells adhesion and the cell density is need to be experiment or use zhanglu experiment date ,.
