Operational Success of Corex Technology at Jindal Vijayanagar Steel Ltd.(INDIA)

Jindal Vijayanagar Steel Ltd. has adopted COREX technology in its integrated process route in India. Te successful COREX operation over ten months period has been discussed in this paper. Analysis of vaious raw materials, products and by-products has been furnished. The steady rise in the hot metal production, plant availability and the decrease in the consumption of various inputs has been highlighted. There has been a significant improvement in the COREX operation since February 2000, both in terms of production and specific consumptions. The reasons for the same have been analyzed in details. The measures undertaken towards the rreduction in hot metal cost have also been discussed n the paper.
