Recent Research and Developments in Steelmaking Technologies for Mass Production of High Quality Slabs

Requirements for high quality slab have been increasing in the world market, especially in Asian countries, because of the expansion of steel product demands. Kawasaki Steel's two integrated works, Mizushima and Chiba Works, take advantage of having low cost and high quality hot metal of large-sized blast furnaces to produce high quality slabs while maintaining high productivity. The refining and continous casting technooloies which provide high quality slabs are as follows.
