Two 100t UHP DC electric arc furnaces, imported from ABB, Sweden by Shanghai Pudong Steel Co. Ltd. were put into oopertion in 1995. It is a symabol of entering a new period for DC EAF Steelmaking in China. At present work, based on the direct measurement and calculation of the material balance and heat balance of 100t DC EAF, some improved operation measures for these DC electric arc furnaces were proposed in order to improve the heat efficiency and decrease the power consumption even further.
