A tackifier is that part of a resin : polymer system which will cause the adhesive to properly wet and adhere to a surface at a given temperature, time and pressure. For example... 1. A rosin ester in an EVA case sealing adhesive imparts wetting of the substrate at application temperature (350°F) 2. A rosin ester increases the tack of an acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive at room temperature (75°F).
