FDR Drive Reconstruction with a Temporary Outboard Detour Roadway

This paper summarizes the rehabilitation of the tri-level Franklin Delano Roosevelt Drive between East 54th Street to East 63rd Street on Manhattan's East Side. The $140M rehabilitation included the replacement of the deteriorated Southbound Viaduct, rehabilitation of the Roof Structure, rehabilitation of the at-grade Northbound FDR Drive and use of an Outboard Detour Roadway constructed in the East River for Maintenance and Protection of Traffic.
