In this study the Gas-Oil IFT is used to determine thernMMP of a crude oil and a volatile oil by gas injection.rnThe method involves injection of a drop of fluid, say oil,rninto gas phase to determine the IFT between the twornphases. The VLE IFT equipment includes a fixed-volumerncell with glass windows on opposite sides through whichrnthe image of the drop hanging from the capillary tip isrnauto-captured and formulated by computer. Arncomputational procedure built-in the Laplace capillaryrnequation is applied to match the image shape of anrnaxisymmetric fluid interface. First, IFT was determinedrnfor a simple mixture to validate the performance of thernequipment, and the values are within the range ofrnpublished data. Thus the measurements are repeated forrnthe oil-gas systems at several pressures down to as lowrnIFT as possible. At last, the MMP is determined, and thernresult show a good agreement with the other testsrnperformed. The evaluation further indicates that this newrnmethod is reliable and may have a prospect of widernapplications due to its visualization and rapidity andrncost-effectiveness.
