摘要

In this contribution a wireless data transmission system is introduced for the transmission of navigation data on the bridge of vessels. The propagation behavior of WLAN on the bridge is shortly discussed as well as the influence of possible interferences. Because of the possible effects of interferences to the performance of the wireless link and due to the fact that navigation data is security-relevant different redundancy concepts are presented to ensure a reliable data transmission. The developed redundant data transmission system is introduced and tested at the laboratory and on board of a modern cruise vessel. The improvement compared to non-redundant systems has also been investigated.
