An improved one-port calibration method for determining the reflection coefficient of a Sommerfeld's single-wire wave DUT (Device under Test) is investigated. The unknown reflection coefficient of the Short-Open-Load (SOL) calibration standards is deduced by using the slotted line method. As an application of this technique, an absorber (a mixture of ferrite tiles and foam absorbers) and an absorbing clamp are used as DUT, whose reflection coefficient is measured twice: first using the slotted line method and then with the new calibration method. At the end, a comparison between the both results is presented.
