Thermodynamics and Computational Methods for Relief Valves

摘要

The computation of flow through a relief valve is one of the most important aspects of safety system design. This paper discusses the fundamental question of choosing the proper thermodynamic basis for such calculations. We also discuss the discrepancies we have observed in the literature on this crucial question and attempt to dispel some of the misconceptions we have found.
