Unmanned construction is a technology unique to Japan that has been developed for various disasters caused by volcanoes, earthquakes, etc. Because Japan has experienced more water-related disasters in recent years, there are more cases of its use in shallow water or on high-water-content soft ground. The New Unmanned Construction Technology Research Association has been developing a remotely-controlled semi-underwater crawler dump truck; a vehicle that can work both in shallow water areas up to an approximate depth of 2.0 meters and on land. Generally, moisture weakens soil and exacerbate traffability. Therefore, it is extremely important to research the condition of the ground when this crawler dump runs in the underwater ground. However, trafficability on underwater soil, the basic relation between measurement methodologies and soil conditions is still not clear. In this report, we report the results of various underwater ground trafficability measurements conducted for the crawler dump truck at the test field.
