Ozone Retrofit Considerations at the Oakville Water Purification Plant

The Regional Municipality of Halton (Halton Region) needed to upgrade one its surface water treatment plants located in Oakville, Ontario. The Oakville facility required an upgrade for the next life cycle of operation, including a specific disinfection upgrade to meet in house treatment objectives and process flexibility under Ontario drinking water regulations. Construction was started in 2004 to include a plant retrofit of high rate sedimentation and the addition of an ozone side-stream injection system.
