Vehicle jolting at bridgehead on soft ground has seriously affected the normal usage of the highway. At present, the Asphalt Overlay is adopted to eliminate non-uniform differential settlement in used super highway in China. Therefore, it's very important to analyze the causes of vehicle jolting and to specify its prevention measure. Proceeding from the analysis of the mechanism of reinforcement of FCB, this paper specified its physical and mechanical properties, and analyzed and summarized its effects of reinforcement. Through the engineering example of ShenJiaHu expressway, with the comparison between two reinforce programs -high pressure jet grouting pile and FCB, the paper analyzed the economic and technical feasibility of the adoption of FCB light weight embankment in the transition section between pavement and abutment on soft ground in the prevention of vehicle jolting at bridgehead, and also specified the methods for design of FCB light weight embankment. Finally, with the analysis of the surveillance data form the test section filled by FCB, the settlement rate per month was 3.7mm after filling and was less than 7–8 mm per month before filling at the section, which showed the reinforcing effect is good and the calculated results were in good agreement with the measured data. It can be a reference to the generalization and application of FCB light weight embankment on soft ground in the prevention of vehicle jolting at bridgehead.
