Integration of Microstructure Engineering and Microalloying Technology for TSCR Production

The authors developed an integrated process model to simulate whole hot rolling process of the CSP production of Guangzhou Zhujiang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., from tunnel furnace to cooling after coiling, in which thermal, mechanical and metallurgical processes of hot strip rolling were coupled together, to enable metallurgists to quantitatively analyze the relationship among processing parameters, microstructure and related final mechanical properties on a computer screen before real industrial practice. On the other hand, microalloying is probably a mature technology for conventional hot rolling. However, due to the change of thermal profiles and others, microalloying confronts new challenges for thin slab casting and rolling (TSCR) production. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a bridge between microalloying technology and the novel process. The authors attempted and developed the quantitative bridge to link them.
