As far as multi-coal seam mining is concerned, a great deal of gas in adjacent seams will be emitted into gob areas of working faces due to the influence of pressure relief, which will result in the excessive volume of gas at the upper corner and in air return ways of working faces. Therefore, drainage methods must be used to solve the problem; however, the concentration of gas drained with the use of ordinary methods is quite low and such gas cannot be taken as a fuel by residents. Here, an additional wind road was driven at the neighborhood of an emergency exit of working faces and with the upper corner, a temporarily closed gas chamber was built in the old wind road; the gas chamber was connected with gas drainage pipelines, the concentration of recovered gas and the gas utilization rate increased.
