Characters of tectonic deformation of foreland basins in central-western China and their prospects of oil and gas exploration

摘要

Foreland basins in the central-western China are studied comprehensively with the geology, the seismic , non-seismic and the drilling data. The result is that the foreland basins in the central-western China are composite and superposed basins and have double deck framework. The configurations of the basins are different from one another. The ductile formation of the basins play an important role in the structural deformation. A group of faults intersected the basin extension at the right angle, play a controlling role in the basin deformation and the oil and gas distributions. The foreland basins, where source rocks were developed and groups of structure belts exist, are excellent areas for the oil and gas prospecting. The ubiety of the structures and the source rocks affects the potential of the oil and gas exploration.
