Enhancing Exploration and Development of Western Nonferrous Metals Mineral Resources

West Development' launched by the Central Party is a far-sighted overall fatal strategy. It could lead China to fully make use of advantageous western nonferrous metals mining resources, promote nonferrous metals industry and strengthen the economy of western region. The strategy also has great realistic significance to push China's economy to develop continuously, quickly and wealthily. 1. The nonferrous metals mining resource in western China enjoys a great advantage. The nonferrous metals mining resources are rich in western China; superiors geologic condition makes it have a good prospecting future. According to statistic, the mineral deposit in the west region of Pb/Zn/Sn/Sb/Ni/Li/Mg/Sr/Ti/V/Pt family and rare earth all account for more than 50% of national total amount. (Pb 56%, Zn 64%, Sn 69%, Sb 69%, Ni 90%, Li 83%, Sr 82%, V 64%, ilmenite 95%, rare earth metals 96%).
