Pervaporation is an attractive alternative to conventional processes for the separation of liquid mixtures becasue of its performance on saving energy. This technique depends on the fact that certain membranes favor permselective of different species in the mxture. So it is the selective permeability of the membrane that forms the basis of separation. A successful pervaporation membrane lies primarily in selectingproper materials.
