摘要

A Hybrid Genetic Algorithm / Simulated Annealing (HGASA) approach for fault section estimation in power systems based upon the simulation of protection system behaviour is presented. The main work includes the following two aspects: 1. a hybrid optimization method (HGASA) which combines the strengths of Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Simulated Annealing (SA); 2. a new fault section estimation method by the combined use of the HGASA and the simulation of protection system behaviour. In addition, an efficient method for identification of the faulty subnetworks is adopted by using the information from circuit breakers. In this way the fault section estimation can be fulfilled in a very short time even for large scale power systems. Test results for a sample power system have shown that the proposed HGASA method is powerful, and the developed fault section estimation method is very efficient.
