Fault Detection and Diagnosis of Eccentricity in a Wind Generator

The variable speed electrical drives based on doubly-fed induction generator are more and more used in the field of renewable energy thanks to their robustness and high efficiency. However, despite their advantages, they are subjected during function to several constraints of different nature including, mechanical faults are statistically the most frequent of these faults, there are mainly the eccentricity faults which are defined by a variation of the air gap of the machine. Failure of eccentricity with its variants has been extensively studied for the case of an induction machine with squirrel cage. we consider in this paper to take account of the specificities and characteristics of the doubly-fed induction generator, for develop an analytical model that describes as precisely as possible the machine performance in the healthy case and fault eccentricity. So, we are particularly interested in developing this model and the global modeling of the wind chain. Validated by numerical simulations of the models developed is presented and the simulations results are be discussed.
