Photoelectron spectroscopy of alkali-earth elements is interesting because of their relatively simply electronic configurations. For example, double photoionization (DPI) of these elements results in ground-state, doubly-charged ions with rare-gas, ~1S_0, configurations. Detailed information about the DPI process may be obtained from Triple Differential Cross-Section (TDCS) measurements, however these are especially challenging for alkaline-earth elements that require an oven to produce the elements in the vapour phase. Indeed only a single non-resonant TDCS measurement has been made for these elements [1].
