Advanced Display-Based User Interfaces for Mobile Multimedia Applications

In the last ten years, mobile phone displays have developed at a fast rate and already approach the image quality characteristics of modern mainstream flat-panel displays. Multimedia use on mobile telecommunication devices has proliferated, first in high-end devices, and later also in lower-tier mobile phones. Visually challenging applications of the future demand advanced user interfaces that are easy and intuitive to use, and that take advantage of emerging display technology. This paper presents some views of user interface research for novel mobile multimedia devices based on near-to-eye, autostereoscopic, and flexible display devices.
