With the widely application of JIT product mode in the automotive industry, there comes an unprecedented challenge to the traditional mode of production designing, operation and information transaction. Commonly, the traditional production planning process has four steps: preliminary planning, detailed planning, modeling and emulation, evaluation and optimization finally. However, in the stages of preliminary and detailed planning, production planners has to face numerous data which contain much information about engineering procedures, device pools and production schedules. Consequently, it is inexecutable to visualize production description and optimization, even if there is a quite good planning method. To solve these problems mentioned above a novel method is proposed to establish planning system models with tree discrete view structure, to visualize control and optimization in designing production line based on processing work flow. This mode gave attention to various paths to access and control the product line, and also to connect with other systems among enterprises. Finally, this paper proposed a prototype system and took a production line of 5V engine cylinder head for example to examine the planning method. The results show it helps a lot in improving the efficiency and accuracy of product line planning.
