摘要

Ultrasonic vibration is applied to diamond turning of special stainless steel to decrease diamond tool wear and improve the surface quality of the workpieces. This paper analyzes the effects of vibration parameters on the surface roughness and the tool wear. The experiments were taken on fine lathes. The experimental results show that vibration parameters have a great effect on surface roughness and tool life. Under given conditions, the smaller the vibrating amplitude is, the larger the surface roughness(Ra) is , and the more rapidly the tools wear. Accordingly, the higher vibrating frequency is, the smaller surface roughness and the longer tool life are. The surface roughness value Ra was less than 0.17μm when vibrating amplitude was 14μm and vibrating frequency was 40kHz in the experiments.
