The key honing control techniques and honing test of high precision vertical honing machine, which is developed by Shanghai Jiaotong University China, with double station, are analyzed in this paper. The quantitative expansion, which is one of the most important feeding styles in honing process, is discussed in detail, including its principle and application on a honing machine. The key control techniques on the flat-roofed honing process are discussed detailed also. Computer monitors the three-phase power signals of the hone spindle in real time and it is a valid way to optimize the honing parameters. The honing test on the developed honing machine is made and the work pieces with honed inner surface Φ11mm are manufactured with roundness tolerance less than 0.4μm, straightness tolerance less than 1μm and roughness tolerance less than 0.04μm. The results of the honing test indicate that the control techniques of the developed honing machine are advanced.
