Quick-point grinding is a new advanced high and super-high speed grinding process with super-high strain rate in the contact layer. According to the analysis of the impact properties, the process of material removal in quick-point grinding is a type of the super impulsive process like blast and impact. The weakening effects of super-high strain rate caused by impact micro-damages on the dynamic strength of the contact layer and the materials removal mechanism for some difficult-to-machine materials were discussed deeply, and the performances of such difficult-to-machine materials in high and super-high speed grinding process were analyzed further in this paper.
