Studies on Preparation of Microcrystalline Wax Emulsion and Its Application in Leather Finishing

Generally wax emulsions are employed in finishing to improve the organoleptic and functional properties of leathers. However most of the wax emulsions, when used in casein finishes, affect the gloss of the leathers adversely. There had been a long felt need for wax emulsions that would impart essential characteristics to the glaze finished leathers without impairing the gloss. The present paper brings out the efforts made in developing of microcrystalline wax emulsions to meet this need.
